Web Portfolio - Personal & Freelance

I don't believe that a lot of my earlier work is relevant to what I'm capable of now. I started out as a part-time freelancer primarily creating free phpBB, vBulletin & IPB templates. I also made numerous custom templates for clients along with websites. All these works are out dated through the years and as such do not reflect my current skill set.

Another reason they aren't included here is that a lot of them are no longer live (websites evolve or die) and the cons of hosting them on my own server far out weigh the pros.

I severed the majority of my freelance ties around the time I started full-time work in the industry. Occasionally I help out old clients here and there but nothing major and, again, nothing worth noting here.

Having said all that, I can find examples of this work if truly requested.

Web Related Skills & Years of Experience

HTML

13 years experience. From the beginning of table based layouts to the now with responsive web design and everything in between. I have experience creating websites that supports IE6 or mobile sites that are written purely for webkit.

HTML5

3 years experience building websites using HTML5. This does not include features that have only recently been supported, of which I'm still reading up on or experimenting with.

CSS

13 years experience. From the beginnings of table based layouts to fully responsive, fluid layouts on devices and desktop.

CSS3

3 years experience building websites and mobile solutions.

jQuery

4 years experience building mostly front end solutions where jQuery has been used for animations and other logic based solutions.

Dreamweaver

13 years experience.

Fireworks

My preferred image editor for website design. 12 years experience.

Photoshop

I don't see this as the best tool for website design but have experience in using it, more so recently with CS5. 7 years experience.

SVN/Git

I'm by no means an expert but I have used these in the past and really enjoy using them. Software I use to aid me are Versions and Kaleidoscope - both fantastic Mac apps.

About Me

I'm a 27 year old Father of one. Born in Shepperton, England and living in San Carlos, CA.

I enjoy various genres of music, usually centered around the use, abuse and general exemplification of the guitar. A few of my top listens are as follows (judicious referencing to my Last.fm account) Joe Bonamassa, Rory Gallagher, Porcupine Tree, Ozric Tentacles, Buckethead, Wishbone Ash & Djam Karet.

I'm an avid movie fan, with a nigh on imdb encyclopedic knowledge of movies - some favourites (highlighting disparate genres) include The Big Lebowski, Rushmore, District B13, Wall-E & The Brothers Bloom.

And when I find the time, I read. I find the time a lot. I own nearing 1000 books, a lot of which I've read. I also abuse my local library frequently. A spattering of my favourite authors: Gary A. Braunbeck, Robert McCammon, Brian Keene, C.D. Payne, Jonathan Maberry & Denis Lehane. You can view my ever growing library at librarything.com.

I've also been a gamer all my life, starting out with the NES and onwards. I've worked in the game industry on and off over the years and the lure is ever present, just less insistent at times. My favourite game of all time is Suikoden 2.
